I wish English had more onomatopoeias like Japanese does though... Why is that?

Well, I think sometimes it'd be funnier if I could use onomatopoeias like "INTERJECTION!" in a comic. I guess I could do it in english (some people do), but it's just not as funny. They also have onomatopoeias for silence, which would be a nice emphasis to have in english.
I dunno somehow writing "silence..." in an english "manga" doesn't seem as effective.
Another cool thing about Japanese is that the characters (the letters not the people! =P ) blend in with the artwork better. Moreover, one can communicate a sound better in Japanese because it's much easier (in my opinion at least) to make the characters look like the sound its making than in english.

I agree. That's one of the reasons I like Manga (tho I don't know enough Japanese to really read a whole Manga in Japanese....Shoulda taken more than just a year in school and some free-time studying ...*sniff* )

Comics I read;
Penny Arcade - Best comic there is. Based on videogame culture. Updated every monday, wednesday, and friday.
C'est La Vie - Duh
Non Sequitur - Never fails to amuse me. Always funny and gives some really good insights into society quite often.
Doonesbury - Has been pretty serious recently but, it always makes a good point and is normally pretty funny.
Boondocks - Always funny.
VG Cats - Another comic based on video game culture. This one has cats though. Only problem is that he only updates once a week.
Machall - Really funny when he updates. He practically never updates anymore. Twice a month is good for him.
These are listed in the order of best to worst from top to bottom. Although, the worst is still good.

PVPonline- love the troll PvP is awful. It tries to portray itself as a videogame culture comic with a name like PvP, but, it is more dilbert than Penny Arcade. It is just lame, tired office humor jokes with the occasional reference to some old game from ancient times or some currently overhyped game. PvP tries to gain a following of videogame fans by doing this but, it only shows that it is just a media whore that only mentions the most overexposed games there are. Also the writer is an ass. He does lame things like, make a comic about Penny Arcade saying that they suck because you might need to know some inside info to understand a couple of the comics. However, since that comic that he made itself requires inside info on Penny Arcade, he is saying that he thinks that what he is doing is retarded. Altogether, a week attempt to latch onto videogame players done by a guy who probably couldn't tell you the difference between Half Life and Halo. Comics Sherpa at ucomics- Turned me on to this comic, Area 52 and A Princess, all very good, oh, and Yenny Yenny? You really do have bad taste. This shameless attempt to get readership by constantly drawing some chick's ass in skimpy clothing coupled with the overly overt attempt at being "Latino," to get a built in Latino readership is just pathetic. The comic never even has a joke. Its something lame like; 1st panel = shot of her ass "My ass is to big," 2nd panel = Shot of her tits, a friend says "no way, you are like so beautiful," 3rd panel = shot of her ass again " wow like, muy bien, you are totally right." Terrible. Just terrible. As far as Princess, Area 52, and Neurotically Yours, I have never seen them. After seing your taste in comics I never intend to ever look at these.

I definitely agree with you on PvP and Yenny, but definitely check out Neurotically yours: www.illwillpress.com/vault.html. You of all people should appreciate the humor. And Neurotically yours isn't a webcomic. It's similar to one, only it's all in flash. Don't be so quick to make an ass out of yourself with assumptions.

I used to like the Boondocks, until it became overly political. The comic may be funny, but having the characters moan and complain about Bush every single issue gets kind of old. If it would just ease off the politics, it would be great.

A Princess is pretty funny, although the art shows room for improvement and some of the jokes do get a little repetitive. Neurotically Yours is pretty funny, but I have to be in the mood for it. In Yenny's defense: the reason why you probably interpret it being overly latino is b/c it's written by a Peurto Rican who actually publishes Yenny in Peurto Rico. So in this case, I don't think David Alvaraz is TRYING to get a latino audience- it's just that his audience IS latino. Anyway, David says that the reason Yenny is dressed the way she is, is b/c she lives on a beach in Peurto Rico, and it's hot. Either way, there's something very sexual going on, and I do suspect that at least some of his readers go purely to see Yenny flaunt her stuff. He's toned down on her look since his premier on sherpa though (much less cleavage). My only critique for Yenny is that sometimes it relies on the "tickle" joke too much. It got to the point were I could predict w/ almost 100% accuracy when Yenny was going to be tickled.

Neurotically Yours is blah, it tries to hard to look like Invader Zim, in my opinion. Its got a few great moments, but they're too few and far between. Its inconsistent. But, be sure to watch the one making fun of the Atkins diet.

But, be sure to watch the one making fun of the Atkins diet. I'm not entirely sure. I guess it depends on which started out first (and I'm not sure which one did, Zim or Foamy?). And yea, some of the episodes are way better than the others, but "few and far between" is a little harsh. It's almost always funny in some way (though admittedly not all the time). The animation quality could also use some work, to put it lightly (though it does kinda add a unique style to have the mouths so completely out of sync with the words). And I think you're just jealous because the frickin squirrel can complain better than you can.

They are just comics man, I understand that alot of people think it is some tremendous art form, which some of it is, but most people just like to have a lil' chuckle now and again. Hey I think that piece of coal in your ass should just about be a diamond now, I think you can take it out.
