Yeah, if the comicssherpa guys ever get over your July cartoons, which were jokes, funny jokes that they were somehow offended by. Jesus, those jackasses need to get out a little more or be replaced.

CoolC- I'm not sure if my inability to jump from Sherpa to MyComicsPage has anything to do with my comics series in July. I know that they upset some people at UPS, but I also know that some people over in Kansas City thought I made some good and valid points. Anyway, I should hope that UPS conducts itself on a professional level and recognizes and rewards my talents rather than punish me for my harangue about my frustrations w/ the syndication process.
Anyway to make it clear again (in case anyone on this forum is unsure about what my purpose was in my July series)- those comics weren't made to attack UPS or my editor specifically. They were merely reflections on my frustrations, and my initial responses to what was said to me. While my tone was sarcastic, it was not meant to be derisive against any one person or company.

Personally, I enjoyed the July comics. It really gave me a good idea of what the cartooning world is like, what it really takes to get recognized. As long as you don't include any specific names, I don't see why UPS would get so angry at stuff like that.

As long as you don't include any specific names, I don't see why UPS would get so angry at stuff like that. I was nervous about doing the first comic of my July series because I absolutely knew that someone from UPS would take offense by it. From what I understand, the first day of the series ruffled some feathers. However, after I made it clear that the week wasn't going to be some UPS bashing session, I think more people were more open to what I was doing. Like I've said before, I wasn't trying to single out anyone or any particular company. The only reason why I had mentioned UPS specifically is b/c they were the syndicate with whom I was working. That was never a secret. I had lots of interview where that fact was disclosed. Anyway I was very careful not to mention names, and I tried to make the editor in question sound as objective as possible. I think I did. I recorded everything accurately- you're just going to have to take my word on it. Unfortunately, some people still thought that what I was doing was rude and uncalled for, and that I was practicing poor business ettiquette. Be that as it may, I'm not really bound by any obligations to anyone from UPS, since I don't have a contract with them (after 2 years of developing work with them no less). But then again, that's not really the point. I didn't feel that anything that was said between me and them was confidential, and I sure wasn't told that I wasn't allowed to talk about it. Honestly, I just wanted to tell my readers where C'est la Vie stood with UPS. I have no idea if people over there are still mad at me about those cartoons. I have no idea where I stand, or where C'est la Vie stands with them anymore. I'm just going to have to wait and see. Let's say I didn't do that July series though. I'm certain that my chances of getting a print syndication contract would have been as equally bleak as they are today. As for Ucomics... maybe there's still a chance...

What you need is CONFIDENCE!!!! And publicity. Everyone, tell everyone else and their families about CLV. Go to random forums and post a link to the site. Jen, get to work on finding a publisher. If no one wants to do things for you, you have to resort to doing it yourself. Forget moping around complaining, lets get to work, people!

And your editor, making you wait around for half the day and showing up late, is an ok form of bussiness ettiquette? They were rude to you and wasted alot of your time at the con and your cartoons after the fact were justifed, if for nothing else but to express and vent your feelings you had while you were at the con.

Yeah, so far I haven't really made any big advertisements, and probably won't be able to make a full throttle effort until around Christmas time. However, I have made a couple of banners, which I'll post on the site sometime this weekend. So if any of you have a website, please fell free to put one up. As for finding a new publisher- that's a bit more complicated. I've turned in a couple of submission packets to a couple of syndicates around a month and a half ago. I probably won't hear from them for another 6 months. Go fig. As for now I need to keep my eyes open for any contests or new venues to spread the word. Anyway all of this is going to take a lot of work, obviously. I'm going to be strapped for time till December, but here's hoping I can make lots of progress regardless.

Why on Earth would some UPS executive or art director feel uncomfortable about "C'est la Vie" ?
This is a fun, well-thought of, and gently cynical strip. Plus, it's real ART - as Frank CHo, the creator of Liberty Meadows said, not too many comic strip artists know how to draw liveful characters. Miss Babcock certainly is one of these happy few, and I'm sure the strip already has a growing fan base to help UPS see the light.

If we keep at it, I have every confindence that someone will eventually notice.
