i stroll into the town, or what's left of it. doors flap open and shut in the dry, heavy wind, as if longing for the days when people bustled in and out of their buildings. a few skeletons lie scattered about the main street, dessicated fingers curled around guns that have long since been stolen. inexplicably, a horse stands tethered to one of the posts holding up the sign for sam's saloon. cautious now, i walk up the street towards the riderless horse. a lone figure bursts out of the saloon, strokes the horse's mane a few times and whispers something in its ear. then he looks at me. she looks at me. "well," she mutters. her voice carries with the wind, and they join together into a dry, deadly rasp. "well," i reply. "seems everyone else is gone." "seems so," she observes. at the same time, we draw our guns. neither of us pull the trigger. "you think this forum is big enough for the two of us?" i ask. "perhaps," she considers. our guns are still raised, fingers a twich away from death's business card. i guess what i am trying to say is jen will you go out with me?
