Best you've seen / Best you're looking forward to
Best I've seen (bearing in mind that I live in a little town with a (singular) two-screen threater): "X-men 3", which I found to be highly... I think the word "craptacular" fits the bill. Really good SFX mixed with a really bad plot. I liked the fights, but it was like "Saving Private Ryan" crossed with "Fitzwilly".
Best I'm looking forward to: "Dead Man's Chest". Because Captain Jack Sparrow is the greatest pirate captain EVAR!, and the trailers look awesome.

I saw Cars and it was probably one of Pixar's worst movies. Not that it was bad or anything... the premise was certainly bizarre.
I too am looking forward to Dead Man's Chest. That and Superman. woo-nelly.

Well, I haven't seen your pillaging, so I can't say much there... but your visage and speech more betoken Johnny Blaze than Long John Silver. Speaking of which... "Ghost Rider" has the potential to be a decent movie, but I have real trouble imagining Nick Cage as a motorcycle punk. And It's not coming out this summer.

Superman Returns was pretty good as far as super hero movies go. Probably not as good as the Spiderman series or Batman Begins, but not a bad film over all. Spacey did a great job as Lex Luthor.
Lots of Christian connotations, but nothing in your face like the final chapter of the Matrix Trilogy.
Clark Kent is an adorable character.

I haven't seen too many movies this summer, but just recently saw The Breakup with Vince and Jennifer. It was pretty funny- had a bit of a serious edge to it too which was un-expected. Most anticipated for me though is Strangers With Candy The Movie- it's been getting great reviews (not that I really care about reviews, but I'm happy for Amy Sedaris). It's in limited release now, and fortunately is coming to a small theater about an hour from me this weekend- I can't friggin wait!
Also- Dead Man's Chest does look hella cool. I loved the first one so it will be exciting.

If you haven't seen it yet: Dead Man's Chest kicks ass!
A warning for you: the movie doesn't end, it just stops on a sequel hook. If that's liable to irritate you, don't see it until the next one's out.
Good: Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp has this particular character nailed), Davy Jones (mostly CGI, but Cthulhu wishes he looked that good), ex-Commodore Norrington (convicingly portrayed as a slimey evil bugger).
Bad: Elizabeth Swan (less believable in this movie than the first... at least until she turns commie towards the end of the movie)
Ugly: The Kraken... but it's supposed to be ugly, so that's a plus.
