 Good Lawsie!

It's over a year since the last posting was made to this forum! I'm just posting to let you know we still love you, Jennifer! So much has happened during the past year, I'm amazed no one is commenting on it. Let's see, what have I liked most? The childhood story was nice. Pierre's romance (or failure at it) has been interesting. Interactions between Pierre and Donna are usually good, though his misunderstanding women and subsequent accidentally upsetting Donna were out-of-character for the experienced womanizer he's been presented as. M.Smokie is very good as a confidant to Mona, less good as an activist. I'd like to see a bit more of the Goths. Lucas's new friends are also potentially interesting. I'm mostly glad to see Tiffany eased out, though the manner of her going (cold-bloodedly switching to a new guy just for superficial reasons) seemed a bit contrived. She was becoming too flat a character, and her dumping Lucas the way she did just made her even more so. Even though I never liked her, she at least had more personality and more complex motivations when she was first introduced. I'm glad to see Mona and Lucas together again, but miss the undercurrent of romance that used to be between them. Hope I don't sound like I'm complaining, because this is still one of my favorite comics, and I hope it continues for a long time!

i'd love to see a Smokey shirt for the guys. A picture of smokey on the front, then maybe the month and year he was established on the back (possibly in dark grey).

Tell me about it- 711 seems like an exorbitant amount of cash to pay just to keep my student status. Private schools suck balls.

It's funny b/c all through elementary to undergraduate I've been to public (UCLA was still a lot, but being a CA resident I got a great deal for a fantastic education) and took it all for granted. I also would've thought that I would be getting more personal attention by going to a private school, but that's not the case at NYU. UCLA was so much more efficient when it came to registering for classes and paying for junk. It doesn't help that my department is geographically separated from the main campus at Washington Square (by about 70 blocks).

This wouldn't have been a problem if my professor just turned in my form on time (to pass my second thesis). I was supposed to have my candidacy meeting earlier this month. Crappers!

that blows! sometimes to get what you want you gotta cut thru alot of red tape and jump thru hoops but it will all be worth it in the end....still, you'd think the process would make more sense and it sux that ur out that money. $711 might not seem like alot of money to some people but to me it's a shitload.

anyway- good luck with finding a job. I'm looking for a new one myself right now and I know how frustrating it can be waiting to hear something.

 I am screwed

So I can't register for classes b/c I can't afford them- I can't get financial aid until my PhD candidacy meeting, which isn't till Jan.

This means I have to pay matriculation fees (711 bucks) and not be a registered student, which menas that I can't work for the school... which means I have no steady income anymore.
financially.

Craps!

I applied for a curatorial position at the Brooklyn Museum- I really hope they call me back for an interview. I would prefer not to sell my soul by commercializing sacred Egyptian funerary objects at a sleazy gallery- working at Sotheby's or Christie's wouldn't be so bad (they're still sleazy, but at least they're a name brand kind of sleaze) but they dont' have any positions.

I think I'll try working retail somewhere. Maybe Ann Taylor again- actually, no... somewhere that gives you commission. I'm a pretty good salesgirl.

I should work at Tiffany's!

I love that song. It reminds me of this bar I DJ'd at when I was underage and all these college kids asked me for it (it was the first time I'd ever heard it). Now it also reminds me of the 40 Year Old Virgin. If your looking for another good jam from the past may I reccomend Centipede by Rebi Jackson (a complete guilty pleasure).

I'm personally doing better than I had been a few months ago. Most of MY news is on the main page, so I guess I don't have anything to report other than currently I'm listening to Asia's "Heat of the Moment"
